Processing of broadband acoustic (sonic) logging data: tracking of compressional and shear arrivals and extraction of slowness / velocity for elastic and mechanical properties.

Broadband acoustic processing

• First-arrival tracking — automatic tracking of the first arrival of acoustic waves (FADA).
• Slowness / velocity extraction — compressional and shear slowness along the borehole.

Downstream use

• Velocities feed the geomechanics workflow (dynamic elastic moduli, Vp/Vs) and the rock-physics workflow (acoustic porosity, fluid substitution).
• Quality control of the tracking before the slowness curves are used in interpretation.
